Death Experience of Jayne Smith (A Moment of Truth)

"Life is eternal; and love is immortal; and death is only a horizon; and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight."

Thirty-five years ago, Jayne Smith was in the hospital in labor with her secon
d baby. In the process, she experienced clinical death and had a near-death experience. The following is taken from her video entitled A Moment of Truthwhere she describes her near-death experience. In my opinion, her near-death experience is one of the most profound near-death experiences I have ever come across. After reading about her near-death experience, I am certain you will agree. Information on how to obtain a video tape of her describing her near-death experience can be found below. On the video tape, she answers some very profound questions concerning life and life after death.

The Ecstasy of God

I was totally aware. I was in blackness. I couldn't see anything. I was thinking to myself, "This isn't the way it is supposed to be. I'm not supposed to know anything and I do. What on Earth has happened?"

At that point I felt something leave my body. It was a whoosh. It went up through the top of my head. I could feel it and I could hear it. Just a gentle whoosh. At that point I found myself standing in a kind of gray mist. Then I knew I had died.

The memory of this experience is seared into my very soul. When I found myself standing in this gray mist with the realization that I had died I remembered feeling so overjoyed, so thrilled, because I knew that even though I was what we call "dead", I was still very much alive. Very much alive. I was totally aware. I began to pour out these feelings of thanksgiving. I wasn't doing it verbally, but it seemed that the very essence of me was saying "Thank you, thank you, God for setting it up this way, that I really am immortal. I was not annihilated."

I was involved in this tremendous pouring forth of gratitude and joy and as that was going inside me, this white light began to infiltrate my consciousness. It came into me. It seemed I went out into it. I expanded into it as it came into my field of consciousness. There was nothing I was aware of except this brilliant white light. The light brought with it the most incredible feeling of total love, total safety, total protection. I was just enveloped in it. I remember feeling almost cradled by it. It was so dynamic it was almost palpable.

As I existed in this white light, in this incredible love, I began to be rapturous. The rapture built. The bliss built. My consciousness began to expand with the bliss of it all. Suddenly there came into my field of consciousness an entire field of knowledge It was like a whole block of knowledge that just simply came in and settled itself on me. I knew, what takes several sentences to tell, but it didn't come in several sentences - it came all in one piece. What I knew was that I was immortal, that I was eternal, that I was indestructible, that I always had been, that I always will be, and that there was no way in this world I could ever be lost.

It was impossible for me to fall into a crack in the universe somewhere and never be heard from again. I just knew that I was utterly safe and I always had been forever and ever.

When that block of knowledge was digested by me, as it were, another block of knowledge came in. A whole field of knowledge came in to my being and what I knew then was that the universe runs according to a perfect plan. I knew that the plan was perfect. Everything that we think about as being hard to understand or unfair or cruel or whatever, that was really all without meaning. I know that is very difficult, but I knew this. I understood it. I comprehended it in a way that when I came back from the experience I really couldn't comprehend anymore. I understood that all of the things that we worry about and concern us, we really don't have to worry about at all. There is a perfect plan and the plan is working itself out in its perfection.

Then I simply remember I became more blissful, more rapturous, more ecstatic. I was just filling and filling with this light and love that was in the light. The dynamics of this light are not static at all. They are so dynamic and so much going on in there of love and joy and knowledge. As you take it into yourself, or as it goes into you and you receive it, your ecstasy level just becomes tremendous.

I knew that I had lost all sense of having a body. It was just my consciousness, sort of pure and free floating, and I did not think at all during this part of the experience. I had no thoughts. I was a receiving station. I merely felt and absorbed and took in and did not think at all. I reached the point in the rapture of it all where I thought to myself suddenly, the first thought.

"I wonder how much more of this I can stand before I shatter?"

With that thought, the light began to recede. So, the universe will not let us shatter. We cannot take in more of this bliss and joy than we are able to handle at a time.

The Beautiful Meadow

As the light began to recede, the rapture that I had built up also began to dissipate. For a couple of seconds, I could not remember what was going on. I remember thinking to myself, "I don't know how I got here. I can't remember what's going on." I didn't know if I had been in that light for a minute of a day or a hundred years. I think the force of all that energy just produced a condition in me of amnesia for a couple of seconds. But that was not allowed to last very long either.

Within a second or two, I found myself standing in an absolutely beautiful green meadow. I knew then what was going on. I knew once again who I was, that I had died. My amnesia period was over with.

I stood there in this gorgeous meadow and I remember that the light there was different from the light here on Earth. Though it was not that brilliant white light in which I was involved, it was a more beautiful light. There was a goldenness to this light. I remember the sky was very blue. I don't recall seeing the sun. The colors were extraordinary. The green of the meadow was fantastic. The flowers were blooming all around and they had colors that I had never seen before. I was very aware that I had never seen these colors before and I was very excited about it.

I thought I had seen all colors. I was thrilled to death of the beauty that was incredible. In addition to the beautiful colors, I could see a soft light glowing within every living thing. It was not a light that was reflected from the outside from a source, but it was coming from the center of this flower. Just this beautiful, soft light. I think I was seeing the life inside of everything.

When I finished looking at this exquisite beauty, I started to walk. I had only taken a few steps before I saw that there was in front of me a hill, a low hill. There were perhaps 18 to 20 people standing on the hill. They were dressed in robes, very simple, I suppose Grecian type robes. They were also in all these beautiful colors. There were men and women - more men than women I don't know why. I thought about this a little bit, but there were both men and women there. There was no one that I knew, but then I had no close emotional ties on the other side so it is not surprising that there was no one there that I knew.

I felt to myself, "Oh, I want to talk with them." It seemed that immediately I was there on the top of the hill. I don't know whether I was able to just glide there effortlessly or whether I only had to think I wanted to be there and I was there. What I do remember was that I did not have to climb the hill. There was no effort involved in this.

The Moment of Truth

As I found myself at the top of the hill, I saw that over on the horizon and just a little bit lower on the horizon, there was a city. I realized in some way that this was more than just a city, that what I was seeing actually represented a world. I wondered, "Was that the world I just came from or the one I am going to?" I never had a chance to find out because right at that moment, 3 or 4 of the men that were in this group of people over on the hill, came to me and we met.

I said to them, "I know what has happened. I realize that I am dead. I know what's going on."

One man in the group did all the talking to me. He was quite tall, taller than the rest. I remember the robe he was wearing was purple. He had a white fringe of hair that went around his head. The top of his head was bald. He had an absolute marvelous face. It was very noble, very kind, what we would think of as a very spiritual face. He also had about him a great deal of authority, so that I felt I was talking to someone that I could trust completely.

When I said to him, "I know what's going on. I know that I have died," he said, "Yes, that's true, but you are not going to be staying here. It isn't time for you to be here yet."

I must tell you that when we talked, we did not move our mouths. I can remember that I only had to have the impulse that contained the things that I wanted to say and he would immediately be able to get that and answer me. Even though he was not moving his mouth when he talked with me, I could hear the sound of his voice in my inner ear. I know what he sounded like. It was a mental transmission, yet I could hear what he sounded like. For a long, long time, I could remember the sound of his voice.

I said to him again, "Everything that has happened to me since I crossed over is so beautiful. Everything is so perfect. What about my sins?"

He said, "There are no sins, not the way you think of them on Earth. The only thing that has any meaning here is what you think."

Then he asked me a question. "What is in your heart?"

Then in some incredible way that I don't understand at all, I was able to look deeply inside myself, really into the very core of me to my essence. I saw that what was there was love, nothing else. My core was perfect love, loving perfection. I had complete love and acceptance for everything. I saw my own gentleness, tenderness, harmlessness. I simply was perfect and loving.

I said to him, "Of course!" I felt I was connecting with knowledge that I had known before. I wondered how on Earth had I forgotten anything that important. I have known that.

I said, "Can you tell me what everything is all about - the whole world - everything?"

He said, "Yes."

He told me in only three sentences at the most. It was so simple. I understood that immediately. I had total comprehension of what he was saying to me. I remember again saying to him, "Of course!" Then there was that feeling again of connecting with knowledge I had once had. I wondered how on Earth did I forget that.

I said to him, "Since I am not going to be able to stay, there are so many people I want to take this back to. May I take this all back with me?"

He said, "You may take the answer to the first question back, the one about sins. But the answer to the second one, you are not going to be able to remember."

The next thing I knew, there was a tremendous banging in my head. It was loud, it was fast, and it was extremely irritating. It went on for just a few seconds - a loud bang, bang, bang, bang. Then that was over and there was a sort of electronic click in my ear. I will never forget the sound of that click because I remember thinking that it sounded almost like a tape recorder. When the click clicked, that was it, I was back and I opened my eyes. My doctor was standing over me and he was doing something that was extremely uncomfortable.

After the experience, I have never been able to remember the specific two or three sentences I was told. I have tried and I have tried for years after this experience to make a concerted effort to try, especially after I went to bed at night, when I would be lying there in that not quite asleep state. And I never could. Finally, I just stopped trying to do that.

But, I do think I know what he was telling me even though I cannot recall the actual two or three sentences. I know that it has to do with love. I believe it has to do with what I was enabled to see when he said, "What is in your heart?" I looked inside myself and saw that I was perfect love.
Now this does not apply to just me. It applies to all human beings. That is what we are. That is our core. This love, this perfection, this God-ness. I believe that what it is all about is that the world will keep turning and we will have all these experiences and it will go on forever and ever and ever. As we bring that into our consciousness and have it remain there all the time, our connection with God will be there, not somewhere in our unconscious. We will be consciously aware of who we are all the time. I think that's what the journey is.

Make me happy.in directs users to websites of its partner stores and earns commission when users shop

Business is not always about money making alone. Sometimes, it’s for a cause, too. And Makemehappy.in, a website, can easily be classified into the special category as it donates 70 per cent of its earning to a good cause. The website features online partner shops and earns commission when they link users from their website to the website of their affiliate partners. The user, in turn, shops online from these stores. The website keeps only 30 per cent of the commission and forwards the rest to an NGO. Once its donation reaches Rs 50,000, it selects another NGO, and thereby keep changing NGOs to reach out to beneficiaries of different sections.

The start-up is incubated at the Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship at IIM-A
How like-minded got together

The idea of starting the venture was conceptualised by Christian W Atz who hails from Germany. He got support from Akiko Takahashi, a Japanese national, and Rukmani Mohindra from India. Akiko and Rukmani look after the developing area, the operations and communications in India. The website team consists of German, Austrian, Japanese, Spanish and Indian members.

Says Rukmani, “A user can book his flight tickets through our travel agent partners or shop from our partner online stores. We get a fixed commission from our partner shops when we redirect users from our website on to theirs and they shop online. We donate about 70 per cent of the commission to a good cause that can make a difference to someone’s life.” Makehappy, India was launched in February 2012.

Initial struggle

Says Rukmani, “In the beginning, we directed some users to makemytrip, violetbag.com, Shoppersstop and Timesdeal. We generated about Rs 2,100. We conducted an online voting and let users to select the NGO we partner with. Music Basti got the most votes. So it will receive Rs 50,000. Once the amount is donated to it, we will select some another NGO through voting.”

The trio faced a lot of challenges to start the venture. The most challenging was to get partner shops which are famous. She says, “It was difficult to convince the brands and famous chains that what we do and offer is a genuine service. We succeeded and Smile Foundation, Unlimited India and Music Basti participated in Facebook voting. We do not have much funds for marketing, hence our only marketing tool is social media.”

On the cards

Talking about the future plans, she says, “We are now preparing for “makehappy 2.0. For the next release, we will add features, such as “login” and a virtual “contribution account”, so users can follow up the amount that has been forwarded by them. We will try to partner with NGOs supporting various causes and give a chance to users to support the cause (NGO) of their choice.”

Plagued by rats

Cinemax theatre needs a pied piper. No one else seems to be doing an adequate job of taking care of rats at he cinema hall in Dev Arc Mall. The very day Mirror reported about an Amdavadi being bitten by a rodent and Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation raiding the premises, movie buffs were overrun by rats at a late-night show.

On Saturday, a gang of friends — mostly in their thirties — decided to catch up with each other after a couple of busy months. They booked 16 seats — A-7 to A-18 and B-12 to B-15 — for  the 9.30 pm show of Agent Vinod. A few minutes into the movie, the group sitting in row A detected a stink. Then they jumped up. “Rats were running up and down the seats. Soon we also realised where the awful smell was coming from. There was a dead rat behind one of the seats,” said Saket Shah, a resident of Satellite.

“We drew the attention of the staff to the problem. They requested us to ‘adjust’ as they could not help us in any way,” said the 31-year-old COO of Continental Warehouse Corporation Ltd.

Mansi Shah, 30, who was seated in row A with her young daughter said, “Imagine the fright we received on spotting so many rats jump around the seats. What if one of them had bitten my child? The theatre management had to ensure the safety of the people who come here to watch the movie. If they were really concerned about the well-being of their patrons, they would have shut down the theatre and cleaned it up properly so that such an incident is not repeated.”

Shah brought the issue to the notice of Regional Head (Cinemax) Kunal Sawhney late on Saturday. “However, he treated the matter lightly. In fact, he was very rude to us,” claimed Saket.

When Mirror contacted Sawhney, he said, “We regularly carry out pest control at the theatre. The AMC visited our place on Saturday and checked the property.”

Blaming the mall, he said, “Most of the shops at the mall are empty. This leads rats to our property, the only place they can find food. We have written to the mall and are hopeful they will help us resolve the problem.”

However, Manager (Dev Arc) Niral Shah refused to shoulder the blame. “We do not face rodent problems. We will talk to the Cinemax authorities about this,” he said.

The incident occurred a day after Mirror reported about a rat that chewed on Tanmay Patel, a 29-year-old businessman, who was watching a movie at Cinemax in Dev Arc mall on Friday afternoon (Ratted out; AM, March 24). This prompted AMC to conduct a check.

Deputy Health Officer (New West Zone) Milan Nayak, who checked the theatre on Saturday morning, said, “We did not find any problem with the theatre. However, if customers have faced problems, we will take action. We might even close their operations to carry out a detailed check.”

Meanwhile, the victims asked, “Will AMC just conduct cursory checks or seal Cinemax that has been violating norms of hygiene? Ahmedabad knows how deadly plague can be. Is the corporation waiting for something terrible to happen before taking any steps?”

Ahmedabad is the Best!

While the country is reeling under criticism for its poor sanitation facilities after the recent 2011 Census report revealed that it had more cellphones than toilets, the scene is just the reverse here in Ahmedabad.
The report says that 83 per cent Amdavadi households have toilets while only 61.8 per cent have cellphones. This is in sharp contrast to the national average of 46.9 per cent households with toilets and 53.2 per cent with cellphones.

The Household Amenities Census 2011 also put spotlight on luxury living and availability of modern amenities in this bustling megacity. The data corroborates the much-acclaimed liveability status of the city — it was in the shortlist of seven finalists for the prestigious Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize in Singapore recently.

COMFORTABLE LIVING

As per the data, majority of Amdavadis live in one and two bedroom houses — 39.1 per cent households have only one room and 30.8 per cent have two rooms. Around 79.9 per cent houses — second lowest in the state and way below the national average of 86.6 per cent— have owners as the occupants while 18 per cent have been rented out.

Every other district, except Surat at 60.7 per cent, registers a higher percentage of owned households.

While BRTS has won the city laurels at international level and revamped the public transport system, the city records an impressive number when it comes to two and four wheelers. Around 46.3 per cent houses own a two-wheeler and 11.7 per cent a four-wheeler. The figures are not only highest in the state but more than double the national average of 21 per cent in two-wheelers and 4.7 per cent in four-wheelers. Incidentally, the number of households with bicycles — 45.5 per cent — is almost equal to the national average of 44.8.

BANKING ON BANKS

Nearly 67.3 per cent Amdavadi houses avail banking services. This is again highest in the state and higher than the national average of 58.7 per cent. Almost 77.6 per cent houses in the city own television sets and 8.5 per cent own computers with internet connectivity.

However, while Amdavadis are known for their love for swish new cellphones, only 61.8 per cent homes own this gadget. In Rajkot, a whopping 71.4 per cent own a cellphone while Junagadh comes a close second at 69.2 per cent.

Only 5.2 per cent houses in the city have a landline connection, marginally higher than the national average of 4 per cent.

WE ARE POWER-FUL

The city also has maximum LPG connections in the kitchen — nearly 64.6 per cent houses use LPG for cooking. This is not only highest in Gujarat but nearly thrice the national average of 28.6 per cent. Surat comes a second with 62.7 per cent.

As compared to the national average of 67.3 per cent, nearly 97.4 per cent houses in Ahmedabad have power connectivity. In fact, 90.4 per cent houses in Gujarat boast of electricity connection, cocking a snook at the national average of 67.3 per cent. The data also show that 84.7 per cent households in Ahmedabad have tap water facility — nearly double the national average of 43.5 per cent — and 67 per cent use treated water.

Census Deputy Director (Gujarat) S Varade said, “As per data analysis, Gujarat has the highest density of cellphones, computers, electricity connections and landline phones in the country.”

GUJARAT’S AHEAD

Census Director (Gujarat) Manish Bharadwaj said, “In the past 10 years, power connectivity in the state has improved greatly. This has led to an increase in the density of televisions, computers, internet connections, landline phones and cellphones in the state. This reflects Gujarat’s development. The district-wise and city-wise data was sent by the Centre. We will release this on March 31.”

He added that the department’s 150-odd employees had worked round the year to collate and prepare the data report.

Urban Development Minister Nitin Patel said, “There has been a rise in the usage of computers and internet. The government has brought broadband connections to cities as well as villages. Also, we have linked the entire state through GSWAN network.”

AGRI BOOST

He added that industries have boosted Gujarat’s development but due credit should also be given to agricultural production. “If there is an increase in agricultural output, the villagers will purchase luxury items like vehicles, televisions and refrigerators from the city. Also, real estate in the city is bought not just by NRIs but also people from rural areas who want a second home in the city they visit frequently. Thus, increase in agricultural production also boosts the economy of cities.”

Heaven and Hell - near-death experience

In December, 1943, George Ritchie died of pneumonia. Nine minutes later, miraculously and unaccountably, he returned to life to tell of his amazing near-death experience in the afterlife. His near-death experience was the one that profoundly moved Raymond Moody to begin seriously investigating the near-death experience. Since Dr. Moody is considered to be the "father of the near-death experience," Dr. Ritchie's near-death experience is in a class of its own. You will find his experience to be one of the most profound near-death experiences ever documented.
The following is a brief summary of Dr. George Ritchie's near-death experience. You can read his NDE testimony in its entirety in his ground-breaking books Return From Tomorrow and his follow-up book Ordered to Return: My Life After Dying.

George leaves his body and sees it lying in his bed. He is not aware the dead body in his bed is his. Wanting eagerly to travel to Richmond, Virginia to start college, he finds himself flying in the air toward a city. He is not sure how he acquired these strange powers of flight and transparency. He arrives at a city and discovers he has lost his solidness. He flies back to the hospital and sees his lifeless body in the morgue and realizes he has died.

Suddenly, Jesus appears emitting a tremendous light and love. George's entire life appears before him. Jesus asks, "What have you done with your life?" He realizes Jesus is not judging him, but he is judging himself.

Jesus gives him a tour of four different dimensions in the afterlife. They both fly toward a large city on Earth where they notice a group of assembly-line workers at work. He witnesses the spirit of a woman trying desperately to obtain a cigarette from the workers who are oblivious to her presence. This woman died severely addicted to cigarettes.

In a house, Jesus shows him the spirit of a boy following a living teenage girl and begging for forgiveness while the girl is completely unaware of the boy's presence. Jesus tells George that the boy committed suicide and is "chained to every consequence of his act."

Jesus shows George a bar filled with sailors who are heavily drinking. Spirits try desperately and in vain to get a drink or to control the sailors' alcoholic behavior. These spirits are from humans who die severely alcoholic. He is horrified as he observes a drunken sailor pass out and an alcoholic spirit jump into the body of the sailor.

Jesus takes him to a new dimension away from Earth and shows him a kind of "receiving station" where spirits would arrive in a deep hypnotic sleep because of their beliefs. These are spirits who believe they must sleep after death until Jesus returns.

Jesus shows him a dimension where angry spirits are locked in hand-to-hand combat, trying in vain to hurt each other. He hears verbal abuse going on. He observes some trying in vain to get sexual gratification from each other. He also sees spirits arguing over some religious or political point and trying to kill the ones who did not agree with them. Here, he realizes he is seeing hell. These are spirits who are locked into some earthly desire that went beyond the physical and which cannot be satisfied in the spirit.

He is then taken to a different dimension appearing like an enormous university. Here he observes people dressed as monks engaged in some form of artistic behavior or research. He is taken into an enormous library where all the important books of the universe are assembled. He asks Jesus if this is heaven. He replies that these are the people who grew beyond selfish desires while on Earth. George realizes these people cannot see Jesus, just as the others could not see him in hell.

Jesus takes him into outer space toward a distant city made of brilliant light of a similar description to the city in the Book of Revelation. He speculates this is the place where people go who have become Christ-like while on Earth. Here, love was the dominant focus of life. He realizes he is seeing heaven, but he is not allowed to go in. Jesus then shows him the future of the Earth. He then returns to his physical body.

"Death is nothing more than a doorway, something you walk through." - Dr. George Ritchie
